A Family Journey to Monbetsu, Hokkaido
From March 13 to 15, 2025, I traveled to Monbetsu, Hokkaido, with my father and mother.
My father, diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer, had always wanted to see the drifting ice.
This trip was meant to fulfill that wish, but unfortunately, due to bad weather,
the icebreaker cruise was canceled, and we couldn’t see the floating ice.
However, the journey itself became a memorable experience filled with delicious seafood,
stunning scenery, and cherished moments with my family.
北海道・紋別への家族旅行
2025年3月13日から15日まで、父と母と一緒に北海道の紋別を訪れました。
父は肺癌のステージ3と診断されており、「一度は流氷を見てみたい」と願っていました。
その夢を叶えるための旅でしたが、悪天候により流氷観光船は欠航し、
残念ながら流氷を目にすることは叶いませんでした。
それでも、旅そのものが素晴らしい思い出となりました。
美味しい海の幸に恵まれ、北海道ならではの風景を楽しみながら、
家族とのかけがえのない時間を過ごすことができました。
🍽️ Indulging in Hokkaido’s Seafood Delights
One of the highlights of the trip was the incredible seafood.
From thick, juicy scallops to fresh crab and grilled hokke,
every meal was a feast for the senses.
The breakfast buffet at our hotel even offered unlimited scallops,
a luxury we savored each morning.
Perhaps it was the pristine waters, but even the beer tasted exceptionally crisp and refreshing.
Ramen, yakisoba, and other local specialties completed our culinary adventure.
🍽️ 北海道グルメを満喫
この旅の大きな楽しみの一つは、北海道の美味しい海の幸でした。
肉厚でジューシーなホタテ、濃厚な蟹、新鮮な焼きホッケ…
どの料理も絶品で、まさにグルメ三昧の旅となりました。
宿泊したホテルでは、朝食にホタテの食べ放題があり、
贅沢な朝ごはんを堪能しました。
また、水が綺麗だからか、ビールも驚くほど美味しく感じました。
ラーメンや焼きそばなどのご当地グルメも楽しみ、
北海道の食の魅力をたっぷり味わいました。
🐦 The Seagulls of Monbetsu
Among the many sights, the seagulls left a lasting impression.
As they soared gracefully over the harbor,
they seemed to embody the rugged beauty of the northern seas.
Even though we couldn’t see the drifting ice,
watching the seagulls glide across the winter sky
felt like a reminder of nature’s quiet strength.
🐦 紋別で印象に残ったカモメたち
今回の旅で特に印象に残ったのが、港に飛び交うカモメたちでした。
冷たい風を受けながらも優雅に舞う姿は、
北の海の力強さと美しさを感じさせてくれました。
流氷を目にすることはできませんでしたが、
カモメたちの姿を眺めながら、自然の雄大さを改めて実感しました。
🌊 A Trip Filled with Beautiful Memories
Though we couldn’t see the drifting ice,
this trip was about more than just a single sight.
It was about the time spent with family, the shared meals,
and the quiet moments of appreciation.
This journey will always hold a special place in my heart,
a reminder to cherish every moment.
🌊 忘れられない思い出の旅
流氷を見ることは叶いませんでしたが、
この旅の本当の意味は、特別な景色だけではなく、
家族との時間や、共に味わった食事、
そして何気ないひとときを大切にすることだったように思います。
紋別で過ごした3日間は、心に深く刻まれる旅となりました。
これからも、一つひとつの瞬間を大切にしていきたいと思います。
