Just when it felt like spring was near, today brought a sudden return to winter. The morning air was sharp and cold, and a crisp wind blew through Yasukuni Shrine, creating a peaceful yet stark contrast to the warmer days we recently experienced.
⛩️ A Quiet and Cold Yasukuni Shrine
With the drop in temperature, fewer visitors made their way to the shrine today. The torii gate stood tall against the pale, overcast sky, and the golden chrysanthemum crest gleamed despite the lack of sunlight. The sound of wind passing through the trees and the faint footsteps on the stone pavement added to the solemn atmosphere.
🌸 Sakura Watch – Holding Steady Against the Cold
As always, I checked on Tokyo’s official “Sakura Standard Tree.” The cold might slightly delay the blooming process, but the buds remain intact, waiting for warmth to return. Even on a chilly day like today, the slow transition to spring continues.
🚗 A Cold and Hazy Tokyo Expressway
Later, I captured a short video of the Tokyo Expressway under the gray sky. The movement of cars against the backdrop of Tokyo’s high-rise buildings gave off a quiet energy, as if the city itself was adjusting to the lingering winter air.

❄️ “2025年3月4日（火）きょうの東京 – 靖国神社と寒の戻り” ❄️
おはようございます！
春の訪れを感じ始めた矢先、今日は再び冬の寒さが戻ってきました。
朝の空気は冷たく澄み渡り、靖国神社の境内を吹き抜ける風が、ここ数日の暖かさを忘れさせるようでした。
⛩️ 寒さに包まれた靖国神社
気温が下がったためか、今朝の靖国神社を訪れる人はまばらでした。
曇り空の下、大きな鳥居は静かにそびえ立ち、菊の紋章は日差しの少ない空の下でもなお輝いていました。
木々を揺らす風の音と、石畳を踏みしめるわずかな足音が、荘厳な雰囲気をさらに引き立てていました。
🌸 「桜の標準木」観察 – 寒さの中でも春は進む
今日も「桜の標準木」の観察を続けました。
寒さが戻ったことで開花が少し遅れるかもしれませんが、蕾はしっかりと膨らみ、春を待ち続けています。
冬の寒さが続く中でも、確実に季節は移り変わっています。
🚗 寒の戻りの東京 – 首都高からの眺め
その後、首都高速道路の様子も撮影しました。
灰色の空の下を走る車の流れは、どこかゆったりとした雰囲気を醸し出していました。
都会の喧騒も、冬の冷たい空気に包まれると、少し穏やかに感じられます。
