『力を合わせて母を助けよ』
海軍上等水兵 新本末義命 昭和十九年十一月二十六日 ボルネオにて戦死
福岡県門司市大里出身 三十歳
大東亜戦争に際して皇恩の有難さを忘れるな。
今の度の召集により遺言として残す。
戦死の報を受けても必ず嘆く事は無い。 父の後をつぎ年端となり、必らず立派に生長することを祈る。
母の教を良く守り、弟妹の面倒を必らず見よ。 亦兄弟は父と思ひ兄妹仲良く母を助けて、 天皇陛下忠義を忘れるな。
事に秀記は今だ父の顔も良く知らぬ故に 生長の折には良く話して聞かせ、どんな苦しい事が有っても 人の世話にならぬ様に。苦しい思ひ余った折には折には母と相談の 上に、母方の叔父に計かれ。
幸子、義和、政幸、秀記五人が力を合わせて母を助けよ。

Died in battle on November 26, 1944, in Borneo Born in Daishō, Moji City, Fukuoka Prefecture, at the age of 30 During the Greater East Asia War, never forget the deep gratitude owed to the Imperial Grace.
I leave this as my last will upon this call to duty. Even if you receive the news of my death, do not mourn. Succeed your father’s role when you come of age, and I pray you grow up to be respectable. Hold tightly to your mother’s teachings and always take care of your younger siblings. Brothers, regard yourselves as fathers and work together with your siblings to support your mother. Never forget your loyalty to His Majesty the Emperor. Particularly, Hideki, as you may not even remember your father’s face, when you grow up, be sure to listen to stories about me. No matter how difficult life becomes, do not rely on others. When you find yourself in unbearable hardship, consult with your mother, and if needed, seek advice from your maternal uncle.
